Annisquam Village Players, Inc. is a community group dedicated to theater in the Annisquam community, Gloucester, Massachusetts. Theater has been an integral part of the Annisquam community for over 100 years! Producing a summer show annually since 1990, AVP continues to bring Broadway to Annisquam Village.

Since 1863 when a group of Annisquamers put on a show outside Village Hall to raise money for the Civil War, there have been dramatic presentations performed as productions, part of community festivities, and fundraisers. Involvement has included Annisquam residents, both full-time and summer, including involvement by persons with a professional association with theater.

AVP is a not-for-profit organization run by volunteers. We are always welcoming new members, looking for fresh ideas, and mostly, sharing our love for theater.

Mission

It is the mission of the Annisquam Village Players to provide an opportunity for local Cape Ann residents, young and older, to engage and develop their talents for musical theater. For two months every summer, we rehearse scenes, music, songs and dances; create sets, design costumes, prepare lights and sound, hawk tickets, set up chairs and welcome the audience, all in the hope of offering an experience — a brief midsummer night’s dream — that will engage, entertain and enrich our community, and that will provide lasting memories for our friends and children to pass on.
